Review:

A spotty creature goes into the zoo and wants to stay there but the zookeepers put him out! A girl and a boy come along and ask him what he can do. The creature’s spots turn blue then orange then green and he can swing from a branch by his tail! He can put his spots on a wall and a ball and even on a cat! He can do really clever tricks. In the end the children think there’s a better place for him to be in…

I think the book is good and I like the pictures.

Review:

This book is about a zoo and a platypus who wants to join.

The other animals were mean, but they were kind at the end.

The text rhymes, making it fun read.

There is a lesson for us all about friendship and appreciating difference.

This book is about a girl who goes shopping. She has to find all the things on her shopping list. I really like this book because she goes into lots of shops to find things like china, sweets, fruit and flowers. I really like the pictures because you can see the front of the shops and then look inside.

The Enchanted Wood

Review:

This story is about three children called Joe, Beth and Frannie who move from the town to a country cottage. One day the three children went for a walk and found a wood that they’d never seen before. They discovered it was a magic wood and the trees seemed to whisper to each other. The most magical tree there was called the Faraway Tree. As you go up the tree, different fruits grow all the way up and different lands appear at the top of the tree every day.

Joe, Beth and Frannie have lots of adventures with Moon Face, Silky, Saucepan Man and Mister Watzisname who live in the tree. My favourite land was the Land of Birthdays because they had lots of fun, dressed up and ate lots of tasty treats. I would love to have a birthday in the Land of Birthdays too!

In this story, Charlie gets put onto the middle of a volcano that is about to erupt. Can Bear Grylls rescue him in time?
At the end of the adventure there is always an accident and the person that it happens to is the next one to get the compass for the next adventure.

Mr Ape gets lots of pets. One of them is a jackdaw that fell down the chimney, and a parrot called Uncle Bob. He has a big house with lots of rooms where he keeps all his pets and they all live happily together. When Mr Ape thought about giving away Uncle Bob, Uncle Bob said “No, of course not, arrk,” It was really good!

Beware Of Girls

Author Tony Blundell

Review by Alice

Year Group Y1

Book Review
This book is all about a big bad hungry wolf, who picks on the cleverest girl in the world. She doesn’t fall for his tricks and sends him back home to bring her some stuff to make him look like a grandma.
It was quite funny because he gets all the stuff muddled up.
My favourite bit is the picture of Rexy the dog with sellotape over his mouth when he’s trying to warn the girl about the wolf.

Book Review
It’s about an iron man with a head as big as a bedroom. Nobody knows how he was made or where he came from. He stands on the edge of a cliff and something pushes him and he falls onto a beach, onto some rocks and breaks apart. One of his hands finds his eye and he fixed it back in so he could see and he put himself back together. He has a challenge to help with a dragon as big as Australia. You will have to read the book to see how the Iron Man wins.

Book Review
My mum and dad read this book to me during the summer holidays. I liked this book, because at the end all the bad giants were caught. I liked that the BFG told the Queen to get the bad giants. I liked it when the BFG went ‘whizzpopping’! When I’m older I want to read this book again by myself.
